On Saturday May 29, the UFC is at the Mandalay Event Center in Las Vegas Nevada for UFC 114 – Jackson vs. Evans. On the undercard, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira fights for the second time in the UFC as he takes on injury replacement Jason Brilz. Brilz stepped in to take the fight after Nogueira’s original opponent Forrest Griffin backed out after injuring himself during training.
The UFC odds makers are treating Jason Brilz like a lamb on its way to the slaughter; he’s a huge underdog to Nogueira. A bet on Brilz will pay you +375 on the moneyline while a bet on Nogueira will cost you -550 for the privilege of winning $100.

This fight happened on relatively short notice after Little Nog’s original opponent Forrest Griffin pulled out of the fight with an injury. Jason Brilz has a very solid record of 18-2-1; he’s won three of his four fights in the UFC with his only loss coming via split decision to UFC TUF alum Elliot Marshall.
Brilz is an excellent wrestler and could potentially last longer than Griffin would have, Brilz likely won’t make any attempt at standing and trading punches with Nogueira which would likely result in an early night.
Rogerio Nogueira is the less accomplished of the Nogueira twins but that lack of accomplishment could be a benefit to Little Nog as he makes his way through the UFC ranks. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira hasn’t been through the same wars that his heavyweight brother has been. While obviously being the same age as his twin, his body doesn’t have the miles of wear and tear of Big Nog.
Little Nog’s first fight in the UFC was a Knockout of the Night performance over Luis Cane. The scheduled fight against Griffin was to propel Nogueira into the light heavyweight title picture, and set up a potential rematch versus Shogun Rua. Nogueira would welcome a rematch versus Rua; the two faced each other in the quarterfinals of the 2005 Pride Middleweight Grand Prix with Rua winning a three round unanimous decision.
I like Jason Brilz for having the balls to step into the ring against Nogueira but there is no way I would waste money betting on him, not matter how big the payout. I would put Nogueira in some parlays with other fights or even baseball bets. He’s a guaranteed winner and you can add him to your selections to increase your payouts.
